SSC163 Fall Berries

Welcome to another Sunday Stamps challenge; this time a color challenge.  While out-and-about, I've seen several bushes with red berries this fall, even in the front lawn.  Do I know what kind of bush?  Nope!  So with a red and blue challenge, I was thinking berries.

I did a little bit of masking this week so I could double stamp this image.  My eyesight isn't getting any better with age, so coloring between these tiny lines is getting challenging.  I used Freshly Made Sketches #307 as a launch point for the layout of this card.

Here's this week's color challenge.  Use a minimum of 3 colors and a neutral of your choice.

Stamps: Le Jardin Botanique, Lemon Zest; Paper: Island Indigo, Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Very Vanilla, In Color Patterns Pack DSP; Ink: Island Indigo, Poppy Parade, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Jet Black Stazon; Accessories: Aquapainter, Leaf Punch, Banner Punch, Layered Leaves Embossing Folder, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Big Shot.

Paper Pumpkin Gurus: Layered Leaves Tutorials

Wow, I've heard people say this month's Paper Pumpkin kit is their favorite so far!  So easy and fun to layer some beautiful fall leaves for a quick treat or note.  [Are you interested in having quick & easy extra holiday projects on hand?  You won't want to miss October and November's kits - check out the details at the bottom of this post.]

For my alternative project, I combined the kit with the Cable Knit embossing folder for a real feeling of crisp fall air (thank you Charlet Mallett for the idea).  I love how quickly this sweet little card comes together.

The Stamp Review Crew: Beautiful You

Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop: Inspiring you one stamp set at a time

Welcome to another Stamp Crew Review Blog Hop!  We share our take on a selected stamp set every first and third Monday.  This week's hop is featuring the lovely artistic stamp set Beautiful You.  If you are following the blog hop order, you have just come from the very talented Kelly Kent's blog.  Aren't her projects always beautiful?

Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, some of us will be making sympathy & hope-type projects.  For my card, I went with a more neutral color scheme, and it could double for a generic-type of condolence card.

Stampin' Up Beautiful You
The embossing paste stencil was created by die-cutting the rain drops from the Umbrella Weather Framelits into a window sheet.  Using an Aquapainter, I watercolored the image with Whisper White craft ink, and I lined some of the highlights with white acrylic paint.

This is a tall, skinny card, as I have a stack of leftovers from another mass-produced project.  By putting the tag over the background, I can introduce the feel of the rain without the difficulty of trying to mask the main image.  I added the "Wishing you brighter days to come" sentiment inside.

Stamps: Beautiful You; Paper: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso; Ink: Early Espresso, Basic Black, Whisper White Craft, White Acrylic Paint; Accessories: Metallics Sequin Assortment, Crumb Cake Seam Binding, Linen Thread, Embossing Paste, Window Sheets, Aquapainter, Scallop Tag Topper Punch, Decorative Ribbon Border Punch, Umbrella Weather Framelits, Big Shot, Dimensionals.

In case you missed it, here's a previous card I made with Beautiful You and the no-line watercoloring technique.

Stampin' Up Beautiful You
I stamped the outline in Sahara Sand, after stamping off once, and then watercolored from there.  This lovely lady in yellow needs some pearls, don't you think?

Stamps: Beautiful You; Paper: Whisper White, Playful Palette DSP, Watercolor Paper; Ink: Crushed Curry, Delightful Dijon, Emerald Envy, Sahara Sand, Tip Top Taupe, Tuxedo Black Memento; Accessories: White Baker's Twine, Aquapainter, Sewing Machine, Thread, Dimensionals.

Hop on over to our fabulous leader, Tanya Boser, to see what fun projects she has put together with this week's set.

Stampin' Up! Graveyard Gate

I've been having some fun with the Graveyard Gate bundle from the Holiday catalog.  This is the perfect set to try out some fun artistic backgrounds.  Here, let me show you.

Stampin' Up! Graveyard Gate
To create the background, I flicked masking fluid onto my card with a watercolor brush and let dry completely.  Then I brayered with Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry, Night of Navy, and Basic Black inks.  The moon was created by sponging Crushed Curry onto Very Vanilla card stock, die-cutting, and flicking Crushed Curry ink with a watercolor brush.

Stampin' Up! Graveyard Gate
The entire gate slides off the card like a sleeve.

Stamps: Graveyard Gate; Paper: Basic Gray, Basic Black, Very Vanilla; Ink: Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry, Night of Navy, Basic Black; Accessories: Masking Fluid, Brayer, Watercolor Brush, Sponges, Circles Collection Framelits, Detailed Gate Thinlits, Big Shot, Dimensionals.

Speaking of Halloween, I have a retired Decor Elements Halloween bundle for sale.  Contact me if you are interested in a quick and fun way to decorate your home for Halloween.

Reworking into Cards

While packing up for our move, I was a little overwhelmed with the amount of 3-D crafts I had around the house.  Here are a couple of examples featuring the O Christmas Tree die.

So I thought I'd share with you what I did with them.  I transformed these 3-D scenes into cards.

I'm pretty pleased that I was able to deconstruct without too much trouble, and the cards came out pretty ok.

Another couple crafts saved from the recycle bin, and now they can find their way to cheering up someone else's mail box.

SSC162 Thankful Sunflowers

A quick post to share with you for today's Sunday Stamps sketch challenge.

I threw together this card before running out of town on vacation.  This set is beautiful to work with (dangling preposition - ack!).  The sunflowers come together easily, and they have a beautiful watercolored look.

Here is this week's sketch by Annette.

Stamps: Painted Harvest; Paper: Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Painted Autumn DSP; Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Garden Green, Chocolate Chip; Accessories: Leaf Punch, Sewing Machine, Thread, Dimensionals.
